History Made at Dolgellau as Working Sheepdogs Smash Price Records Once Again!

The Working Sheepdog Online Sale held on the 13th of May at Dolgellau saw a tremendous trade from start to finish, with strong demand for quality working sheepdogs once again reflected in the prices achieved. A total of 168 dogs were entered for the sale, attracting buyers from across the World

Topping the sale at an outstanding £15,200 was Pinhaw Nel from Dewi Jenkins, selling to a buyer from England.

A NEW WORLD RECORD for a fully trained Huntaway dog was also set at Dolgellau, with Ellis Rees selling the exceptional Huntaway dog “Smash” for £15,100, making him the second top price of the day.

Demand remained exceptionally strong throughout the sale, particularly for fully trained and quality young dogs with potential. In total, 18 dogs sold for over £5,000, while 4 dogs broke the £10,000 barrier, highlighting the continued confidence in the working sheepdog trade.

Fully Trained Sheepdogs – Top Prices

Topping the sale was Pinhaw Nel from Dewi Jenkins of Ceredigion, achieving an excellent £15,200.

Closely following was the headline performance of the day, “Smash” from Ellis Rees of Rhayader, which sold for £15,100. A remarkable result for a fully trained Huntaway, with Smash attracting strong attention and setting the

NEW WORLD RECORD for a Trained Huntaway.

Third top price went to Balearic Sal from Kevin Evans of Brecon, selling for £13,700.

Closely following behind with a 5 figure sum was Floss from David Beavan of Builth Wells at £10,600.

Further strong demand was seen for Dot from Rhys Griffiths of Llannon, which sold for £9,300.

Huntaway Highlights

The Huntaway section was headlined by the outstanding performance of “Smash” from Ellis Rees of Rhayader, whose £15,100 price drew major attention and praise as one of the standout lots of the entire sale.

Also featuring in the Huntaway trade was Cai from Rhys Griffiths of Llannon, selling for £8,400, alongside Rimu from Rosie Field Smith, which achieved £2,650.

A strong and competitive sale throughout reflected continued high demand for quality fully trained Huntaways, with buyers competing strongly for proven, capable workers.

Partly Trained Sheepdogs

Topping the partly trained section, Tanant Valley Ruby by Ed Roberts, Tywyn, a quality 17 months old daughter of Clwyd Bob. Ruby sold for £8,700 and will settle in Hampshire with her new owner.

Another highlight of the partly trained section was Meg, by one of our sales’ regular supporters, Dylan Williams, Rhayader. Meg, sired by Elan Valley Moss sold for £5,400 and will head to her new home in Herefordshire.

Also stamping there mark in the partly trained section was Spot by

Ellis Rees which sold for £5,250 and Murray’s Jazz by Ryan Murray which sold for £4,700.

Top Priced Pups!

Topping the pup section was Nell, by Ross Games, Brecon. Nell, a quality 3 months old daughter of Sam

(R Games) sold for £3,500 and will head to her new home in Kent.

Another highlight of the pup section was Kim, by one of our sales’ regular supporters, Dewi Jenkins. Kim sold for £3,350 and will find her new home in North Wales.

Also reaching the £2000 mark in the pup section was Cass, a daughter of High Hills Jo from Dewi Jenkins, which sold for £2,250. Cass will start her journey with her new owner in Shropshire.
