It was a quieter day in Machynlleth yesterday. Despite this, top-quality lambs were once again seen and sold for very good trade again this week. Lambs peaked at 368ppk for a cracking pen of Beltex x lambs from Gerddi Gleision, Llanbrynmair. Once again, the light and standard weight lambs returned the best average prices. The heavier lambs were a little harder to move. Feeding is paying, as there is a premium for the best-fleshed lambs. There were many more Welsh lambs on show this week, selling at around 310 – 320ppk There were fewer cull ewes forward this week and there was not much power around, despite this, very good prices were once again achieved.
